Random Act of Kindness

I’m pretty sure that you’ve all heard about the earthquakes in Japan and all the possible tsunamis that may happen around that part of the world. I live in the Philippines, so yes, I’ve seen a couple of warnings on the news lately. It’s scary.

Just a few minutes ago, though, a girl from a PSAT prep camp I attended in California last June, named Kristine (that was the first and last time I saw her, and I’m not so sure we even said anything to each other there), messaged me on Facebook and asked me if I was okay. At first, I was like, “Why wouldn’t I be?” But then I thought about it, and I realized that hey, at least she gives two cents about what’s been going on. She then told be that these two siblings from Japan that also went to the prep camp, Karan and Johnny, were okay, too.

Good for you, Kristine! Thanks for being so caring. I appreciate it, really.

(Now I shall continue to study before my mom sees me on my laptop. It’s exams next week, you know.)

(Oh, and one more thing – from now on, I don’t think I’ll edit my photos. I feel it removes the purity of it all.)

Film

All of these shots are from a roll of film I used with my Canon T70, which used to be my grandfather’s. I really love it right now! Judge me if you wish, but I think my skills are improving! I know how to take an at least halfway decent picture with a film camera. PLUS POINTS FOR ME. (These pictures were taken around my house, just so you know.)

Tomorrow, I’m having lunch at my grandmother’s house. In the room that used to be my grandfather’s office, there’s a Pentax with a fixed lens (low aperture omg) calling my name. According to my dad, I can use it. In the words of Napoleon Dynamite: “Yes, yes, yes!”

I Have You to Thank

I don’t think I’ve never talked abut how much I love my friends. Well, I do. They’re the peanut butter to my Oreo. (It’s true. Oh, and if you didn’t think of the “The Parent Trap” with that last line, you have obviously missed out on a lot.)

I’ve Decided:

For the next month (and possibly the next few), I will be shooting with film. It’s about time I do this, actually.

There won’t be much pictures until I get my rolls developed, thanks.

It’s a Fiesta!

Things I am currently enjoying:
+ Ann He’s amazing fashion photography. I can’t believe she’s just at least a year older than I am and already so freakishly talented. When I first saw her photos, I thought they were taken by a pro (Not that she isn’t, but you get what I mean.)!
+  Hanson’s new music video for their latest single, “Give a Little.” If this song does not make you want to do a little happy dance (or at least bob your head and grin from ear to ear while watching the video), then something is obviously wrong with you. No joke.
+ The Day Zero Project. The site has been down for a while, so image how happy I was to see that it was back online! I have my own account with my own list (it’s a private one, though), and I strongly recommend you make one of your own. It helps you keep track of the things you love, as well as your dreams and aspirations.
+ My cousin’s wedding, and how I got to curl my hair.
+ The fact that after three more weeks, I’m officially going to be free.

Photographic Equivalent

At the Student Council office, fixing the giveaways for Admin Staff day, which was celebrated yesterday. It was so much fun! Pictures to come soon.

Butter coconut crackers. Really cheap, and really good!

This is my friend Stef’s special envelope. She gave it to someone a few days ago, and she wanted me to take a picture of it so she’ll remember it. I personally love this envelope.

Last Thursday, my math teacher missed the first half hour of our class. Us students just relaxed in the classroom – we listened to Maroon 5, named the baby we’re adopting (yes, we’re adopting one for this program organized by my school; it’s really neat), and took pictures. Good times, good times.

At the moment, I’m listening to classical music and trying to catch up on my biology studies, since I didn’t do well in the last few quizzes. I’m trying to get all this kingdom Monera stuff into my head, but so far, I’ve had to luck. Oh well.

By the way, I’m loving these black and white photos by Brian Ferry. I like how he described it as “the photographic equivalent of doodling in a sketchbook.” Drawing, let alone doodling, is something I don’t think I’ll ever master (my friends can back me up on this), so the way he talked about those pictures really inspired be to try it out sooner or later. You should, too.

Wish Upon a New Star Every Night

Last January 28, the student council of my school premiered the movie “Tangled”. It was such a success! We sold out tickets (again, I’m sorry to those who weren’t able to get any), and the movie itself was really good. It’s such a shame that Rapunzel is going to be the last Disney princess for a while. But either way, I’m looking forward to the other films Disney will be releasing in the future (they’re my secret obsession, hehe).

During class, my friend Alex did this to her nails. She just used Elmer’s glue and glitter. Don’t you think it looks so legit?

For some odd reason, I’ve always wanted to take a picture of the curtains in my classroom. I don’t know why, but whatever, I finally (FINALLY) did.
